Andrei Chikatilo, born on October 16, 1934 he was convicted of the murders of 53 women and children. In order to attain his victims he would befriend them at local train stations and bus stops, before taking them to nearby forest areas where he would attack, rape, and mutilate them with his knife. Chikatilo in a number of cases would eat the sexual organs of his victims and in his earliest crimes he would slash the eye sockets removing the eyeballs. He later attributed this act as a belief that his victim kept an imprint of his face in their eyes, even after death. Chikatilo opened up about several of his tendencies and the details of his murders including where undiscovered bodies were to psychiatrist Bukhanovaski. Chikatilo stood trial on April 14, 1992 he was found guilty on 52 of the 53 murder charges, and was sentenced to death for each of the charges.
